Karnack is a rural unincorporated community in northeastern Harrison County near Caddo Lake in the eastern region of the U.S. state of Texas. The population was 775 at the 2000 census.
   The town is named after Karnak, Egypt (near modern-day Luxor). It was thought that the community's alignment with the city of Port Caddo was relative to that of Karnack and Thebes. The town is the birth place and location of the childhood home of First Lady Lady Bird Johnson. It is also the home of the Longhorn Army Ammunition Plant.

Education

Karnack is served by the Karnack Independent School District. George Washington Carver Elementary School and Karnack Junior/Senior High School serve the city.

Businesses

Although, Karnack is unincorporated, it has many small family owned businesses such as the 4J Ranch, Big Pines Lodge, Circle S Grocery, and Mystique Tours.

Geography

The landscape of Karnack is full of pine trees, (sometimes used for the timber economy) green pastures, and scenic lakes known for their multitude of bass and catfish.
